The maiden flight of a B737 aircraft from Shenzhen to Libo formally opened the Guizhou Libo Airport on November 7th. The Guizhou Libo Airport located at China’s Southwest province of Guizhou began construction in 2003. The airport‘s construction includes a 2,300-by-45-meters-wide runway which will accommodate the landings and takeoff of B737 jetliners. It has an annual passenger capacity of 220,000 person times and could reach a passenger throughput of 150 person times an hour during peak season. The airport completion and formal opening is expected to promote Libo’s international special tourism city as well as serve the number of tourists who will travel to Libo after South China Karst’s proclamation as a World Natural Heritage site. This made Libo the second scenic tourism spot in Guizhou Province following Huangguoshu Falls. At present, the airport has confirmed two regional flights: from Libo to Shenzhen and Libo to Guiyang. The Libo airport has a total investment of RMB 360 million.
