Officials from the CAAC stated that policies implemented by the government would guide and promote China’s GA industry.

Up to this September, there were a total of 226 GA companies in China, showing an annual industry growth of 25% over the past 5 years. Of these, 201 companies were still in development. In addition, China had 1,786 GA aircraft in total with an annual growth rate of 20%. Currently, the industry employs about 11,000 people in total. In 2012, the government set a clear target for China’s GA development in which by the year 2020, the industry’s operational capacity would reach 2 million hours and experience a 19% growth from now up to that point. Currently, 14 cities have already formulated their master plans for GA Airport layout and distribution. In addition, 7 companies located in Guangdong, Shandong, Hunan, Hebei, Liaoning and Henan Provinces have the capacity to produce aircraft.

“The CAAC aims to use scientific planning to guide the development of the GA industry and perform the correct administration to keep its competition healthy”, officials stated. They also appealed to local governments and companies that intend to develop GA business, suggesting that they should take the time to set themselves at the right position to get the maximum benefit from this industry.
