Zigong City’s GA Airport to Open in the First Half of Next Year

The General Manager of the Xihua GA Company Dajun Li has stated that if all goes well, the Zigong GA Airport, which was planned and invested by its parent company AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd., will be put into use in first half of next year.

The airport is located in Zigong’s Chengjia Industrial Park and has a total area of 1,185 acres, and is the result a 3.2 Billion Yuan investment. There are two phases of construction; the Phase I project includes building a GA Airport with a 400 meter long runway, apron, hanger, maintenance hangar, terminal, air traffic control building and supporting facilities. The Phase II project will extend the runway to 1,000 meters long and build a Commuter Airport and support facilities such as navigational lighting equipment, a hanger, fuel depot, landscaping, etc. In the future, aircraft part production and assembly will also take place at the airport site.
