Search

China Southern Airlines is seeking to sell four B777-200A aircraft and has invited interested parties to bid. The company did not disclose why it is phasing out the aircraft.
Board Secretary Xie Bing of China Southern Airlines said that it was a regular transport capacity adjustment. A source said the tender offering will be finished by August 30. Several companies have expressed interewst in buying the aircraft. The four 777s the company plans to sell are the original short-range version aircraft, which joined China Southern Airlines’ fleet between 1995 and 2000. China Southern said in April that it has decided to lease eight Airbus aircraft that the company originally ordered for purchase to reduce the need for capital and relieve pressure on operations caused by high asset-liability ratio.
