Beijing, Athens Airports partner for the Olympics

Beijing Capital International Airport and Athens Airport of Greece became sister airports after signing a memorandum of understanding on July 8 regarding Beijing Airport’s Terminal 3.
The two airports will cooperate on Olympic Games services and airport management. Athens hosted the 2004 Olympics. The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Minister Yang Guoqing of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, Greece Ambassador to China Michael Cambanis, Athens Airport CEo Dr. Yiannis Paraschis, Director Zhang Guanghui of the CAAC Airport Department, Director Li Jiangmin of the CAAC International Department, Director Huang Dengke of the CAAC North China Regional Administration, General Manager Zhang Zhizhong of the Beijing Airport, Party Secretary Wang Jiadong of the Beijing Airport, Vice General Manager Dong Zhiyi of the Capital Airports Holding Co., General Manager Hao Yan of the Beijing Airport, the secretary of the Airport Group of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games, and leaders from the Beijing Tourism Bureau, airlines and other companies of Capital Airport. The agreement initially calls for bilateral cooperation regarding the Olympic Games including airport service work, airport management, market promotion, airport technology and business cooperation. During the Beijing Olympics, Athens Airport will send professionals with Olympic Games experience to Beijing to provide consultation and direction to the Beijing Airport. The two agreed to provide consultation service on how to manage and develop both aviation- and non-aviation-related businesses.
