The North China Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China and about 20 representatives of general aviation companies have signed an agreement on June 27 to temporarily suspend the operation of small aircraft and flight equipment during the Beijing Olympics and Paralympic Games.
The agreement comes after the Chinese government issued a notice forbidding the flight of such aircraft during the two Games. Among those who signed were representatives from general aviation companies, flight schools and flight clubs in Beijing. The GA groups have expressed support of the decision of the Chinese government to ensure security and air safety during the two international games. The Beijing government decided that from July 20 to September 25, all citizens, corporation and other organizations are prohibited from using small aircraft and flight equipment. These small aircraft are helicopters, gliders, hand gliders, trike, manned balloons, airships, paragliders, paramotors, free balloons, captive balloons, and remote-controlled model airplanes.
